I didn’t have a plan
When I arrived in the United States, writing a book wasn’t on my mind. I was focused on surviving.
Unloading trucks. Long days. Broken English…
Rolling with the punches—one screw-up at a time.
-
Courage
-
Trust
-
Failure
-
Reinvention
Real stories—built the hard way.
…and the strange way people call it “luck” when you never stop showing up.
A Little About Me
I’m an entrepreneur and storyteller who has spent the last two decades learning life lessons the long way. I founded Shades In Place, a window covering company I built in Boston, MA and now operate in Tampa, FL. What began as a small service business became my real-world classroom for understanding trust, leadership, and resilience.
That journey eventually expanded into Trading Up Consulting, where I mentor professionals in the industry, and the podcast No Strings Attached.
But the truth is, my real education didn’t come from titles or milestones. It came from the mistakes, the conversations… and the moments that didn’t make sense at the time—but changed everything later.

A Cold Morning at the Car Wash
When I arrived in America, my English was limited — and my confidence wasn’t much better.
My first job? A car wash.
Early mornings. Cold air. Soap, water… and a long line of cars waiting.
At the time, it felt like survival.
But looking back now, that small beginning was one of the first invisible dots in a much bigger story.
Because that experience taught me something simple:
If you’re willing to work, learn, and keep moving — even the smallest opportunity can turn into something bigger.
This book is full of moments like that.
Small scenes… that only make sense years later.
Nobody tells you what’s waiting ahead.
When life hands you a ladder — and it will —
you decide if you’re brave enough to climb it.
Nobody tells you what’s waiting ahead.
When life hands you a ladder — and it will —
you decide if you’re brave enough to climb it.
Be the first inside Nobody Told Me That.
Doing everything right… and still feeling stuck?
Yeah—I’ve been there.
No fluff. Just real stories.
